Welcome to Up on the Downs. It is intended that this blog space should chart the zeniths and nadirs, triumphs and travails, and strikes and gutters, as Jack and Craig walk the South Downs Way.

Packed and ready to roll
The title says it all really. Winchester (via London), here I come. The question is do I detour to trial the new tube trains on the Victoria line...?
Victoria Line > Bakerloo Line is the most efficient route, particularly as the walk from ticket barriers to platform for the southbound VL at Kings X is sub-60 seconds. I like to avoid walking at all costs.
You won't be guaranteed a new train though as the old ones still ply the route. And the new ones aren't so new any more - they've lost the new carriage smell they once had.
